Maximize Your Electrical Panel Upgrade Rebate

What SCE Homeowners in L.A. County & Orange County Communities Need to Know

If your home’s electrical panel is outdated or less than 200 amps, and you’re thinking about installing an EV Charger, here’s good news: the SCE Charge Ready Home program offers rebates up to $4,200 to eligible homes for panel upgrades.

    Why Upgrade Your Panel?

Beyond getting “EV ready,” updating your electrical panel brings multiple benefits, including:

    • Increased safety through code compliance because older or undersized panels are often considered a fire hazard or at risk for equipment-failure
    • An opportunity to future-proof your home for EV charging, battery storage, solar expansions, or added appliances in this ever-changing world of smart home automation and renewable energy upgrades
    • Improved property value and peace of mind for years to come

    What Rebate Amounts Are Available?

Under the SCE Charge Ready Home program up to $4,200 is available for rebate for income-qualified households (household income less than or equal to 80% Area Median Income / participating in eligible assistance programs).

In addition, the SCE Charge Ready Home program allows for up to $2,100 for residents in designated disadvantaged communities (DAC) regardless of income.

The good news is that in many cases, the panel upgrade cost (~$4,200 average) is entirely covered for eligible households.

How to Find Out if You Are Eligible

You may qualify for the SCE Charge Ready Home rebate if:

    • Your residence is a single-family home within SCE territory
    • Your original service panel is less than 200 amps, and you plan to install (or already have) a Level 2 (240 V) EV charger
    • You apply for the rebate within the required timeframe (application may be submitted up to six months after completion of work)
    • You meet income-qualified criteria for the full amount or for $2,100: your home is in a DAC

A main criteria is that the upgrade work must be completed by a licensed contractor. Lucky for you, Mario Castillo Electric is licensed, insured, and has years of experience with Panel Upgrades and EV Charger Installs!
