What is Electrical Rewiring?

Electrical rewiring is the process of removing unsafe and outdated wiring from a home and replacing it with modern wires to ensure maximum safety and efficiency. This type of maintenance is essential in any building, as years of use can lead to fraying or other damage that can potentially be a fire hazard. Full electrical rewiring services also reduce the risk of power outages, so having it done for your property will result in greater reliability and peace of mind. An added benefit is that refreshed electrical wiring usually results in better energy efficiency by reducing voltage drops and providing clean electricity for your electronics. If you're looking for greater safety, improved reliability, or potentially lower bills, contact the experts at Mario Castillo Electric for high-quality electrical rewiring services for your home or business.

Dangers of Not Rewiring Your House

One of the primary risks of not rewiring your old house is the insufficient capacity of outdated wiring for modern homes. Additionally, old wiring often lacks a ground wire and moisture rating that typically disregards important building codes and compliance laws. The absence of a ground wire can greatly increase the chances of electrical appliances to experience voltage surges and result in potential fires. Older wiring is also not regulated for moisture, which can present fire and shock hazards in bathrooms and kitchens where water is more common. Ensure the safety and functionality of your home with Mario Castillo Electric. We’ll electrically rewire your most important investment - your home - to meet current standards and keep your family safe.  Contact us today to start your home electrical rewire project!

Benefits of Rewiring Your House

Rewiring your house or office space provides added advantages that can save you money and lessen the risks of a power outage or potential injury from an electrical malfunction. By using less energy through electrical rewiring, utility bills will start to go down and you'll have the opportunity to add additional devices and appliances in the future with the assurance of safe usage. This means house fires are also less likely to occur, providing peace of mind that your electronics and wiring won't become faulty due to too much use or strain. Ultimately, renovating an outdated electrical system is well worth it for gaining sustainable energy and cost-effective benefits.

Do Not Try This at Home

Rewiring services at your home is a major task, as it involves dealing with electricity and complex systems. It is important to remember that it is not a DIY project and should always be handled by a professional rewiring electrician with years of experience and knowledge of what to look for. Self-attempts at electrical rewiring could lead to dangerous consequences such as short circuits, electrocution, and fires - all of which are far more expensive than the cost of hiring an experienced electrician. When it comes to ensuring the safety of your family or employees, contact the professionals at Mario Castillo Electric for all your electrical rewiring needs.

Home Rewire Process

It’s always good to know what to expect during an electrical rewire. At Mario Castillo Electric, we pride ourselves on our attention to detail and quality workmanship. We understand that a home rewiring process can be disruptive to your daily routine, so we recommend before our arrival that you protect your flooring and furniture in order to reduce any potential damage. A team of two-to-four electricians will be at your home daily throughout the renovation, and they will take extra precautions with your property. Approximately ten by ten holes will need to be drilled into the walls in order for wiring access, which will afterward be sealed with new drywall and patching from our electrical rewiring experts. In the end, we'll ensure all switches, electrical outlets, and ceiling fans are installed properly before the inspection. Then after inspection, all tools are put away and the workplace is thoroughly cleaned up so you can enjoy your freshly rewired house.

Rewiring a house is a significant home renovation project that will affect every wall in your home - but, it’s all to ensure your safety! New wiring will need to be run throughout your entire house, from the basement, to the crawl space, to the floor joists, to the attic. You will be responsible for repainting. Click here to learn more.

Do I Need a Rewire?

If your home is 50 years old or older, you probably need to rewire your home. You might be noticing flickering or dimming lights that need to be changed regularly, breakers that trip frequently, and broken or cracked sockets. Also, if your outlets are not grounded, you don't have enough sockets and the fuse electrical panel is old, rewiring your home, is the solution.

Why Do I Need a Rewire?

Faulty wiring is very dangerous and could result in house fires and other household accidents. An electrical rewire will eliminate safety and health risks caused by old wiring, avoid electrical surges and prevent short circuits, arc faults and overloads which will decrease your utility bill. The new rewire will be in compliance with the National Electric Code which will bring your house to what is currently needed and what is projected for the next 30 years.

What is Knob and Tube Wiring?

Knob and tube, or open wiring, was installed from the initial electrical installations in the early 1900s into the 1940s. It is named for the porcelain fittings that were used to support and run cables through wood structures. If it is left alone and no changes have been made to the original installation, and the insulation is still in good, flexible condition, it may still be a safe installation. However, there are a number of issues you should be aware of. If you have knob and tube wiring in your home, you should have it inspected by a licensed electrician.
