This initiative provides eligible SCE customers with up to $4,200 in rebates for upgrading their home's electrical panel and installing a Level 2 EV charger, all while enhancing the value, safety, and efficiency of their homes. Discover how you can benefit from working with Mario Castillo Electric and SCE’s program! We’re helping Southern California residents more cost effectively charge their electric vehicles (EVs) at home through the Southern California Edison (SCE) Charge Ready Home program.

What is SCE's Charge Ready Home Program?

The SCE Charge Ready Home Program offers rebates to income-qualified customers and those residing in disadvantaged communities. This initiative helps homeowners prepare for the installation of electric vehicle charging by improving the home’s electrical infrastructure. The rebate program primarily targets offering a rebate for the cost of upgrading to a 200-amp main electrical panel and installing a 240-volt circuit.

Upgrading your home’s electrical panel is essential if you plan to install a L2 charger and your current panel has less than 200 amps. It enhances your home’s energy efficiency, reduces the risk of electrical fires, and increases capacity for additional electric devices and appliances. Plus, a modern, upgraded panel can boost your property value.

The rebate options are twofold: Income-Qualified Rebate and Geographic-Based Rebate

    The income-qualified rebate

Covers up to 100% of the panel upgrade costs and is designed for customers with a total household income less than 80% of the area median income (AMI). Households with earnings less than 80% of the area median income (AMI) can qualify for a $4,200 rebate.

    The geographic-based rebate

Caters to customers residing in disadvantaged communities, providing up to 50% coverage for upgrade costs. Those residing in disadvantaged communities can qualify for a $2,100 rebate.

All these benefits mean that making the switch to an EV is more affordable and convenient than ever before!
